What if I need to know more than the status of the case, e.g. I need to give you a new address as to where to contact me about upcoming court dates, or I need to give an amount for restitution or to tell you about some information that will be helpful in prosecuting the case?
Look at the MEET OUR STAFF page on our website for the information about our victim/witness coordinators. Also, the website has a court calendar, the phone numbers for the respective clerk’s offices and the phone numbers for the law enforcement agencies that apply to your case. The calendars give you a general idea of when we have court. Due to the fluid nature of the docket it is impossible for our office to keep a daily docket of the hundreds of cases pending because they are subject to change various for reasons, many of which are out of our control, e.g. defendants attorney have cases continued through clerk’s office or judges without our office being notified, etc.
We do have a victim/witness coordinator (hereinafter the "VWC") assigned to general sessions court and one assigned to criminal court. The VWC for general sessions court handles all four counties as does the VWC for criminal court. When calling our office it is important that you know whether the case is in the general sessions level or criminal court level. It is also important to know which county the case is in and what the defendant’s name is who is charged with the crime. There are thousands of cases pending between the two court levels and the four counties at any one time. Keep in mind also that since these two VWC's are in court four to five days each week so it is not practical that they will necessarily be able to return your phone message within the same day.
